Passing It Forward
When a young person finds it in his heart to volunteer his time and energy to a program, we can only thank God for him.
Antony Wekesa is a beneficiary of the Fikisha scholars program.
He started the program in 2010 when he joined high school at Dagoretti Mixed Secondary School in form one (Freshman year). In 2014 he graduated high school having successfully completed the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination.
The quote, ‘Passing it forward’ is what keeps him motivated to volunteer back with Fikisha. He believes that it is his mandate to help out where he can in areas of need.
He has volunteered to help out in the rehabilitation program. He helps in preparing the food and guides the mentees in serving and cleaning up after themselves. He also takes part in the community walk-throughs that takes place every Saturday.
He believes that the little he can do to help Fikisha wouldn’t be thanks enough for all the help accorded to him when he needed it the most. He would not have been able to attend school and dream of a better life had it not been for Fikisha and the community surrounding him.
Antony hopes to join a technical college to pursue his career as a medical practitioner. He passionately believes he can of great help in saving people’s lives.
